Carlos + Carlos = Victory!

It didn't look good after Pujols' two homeruns and 7 RBIs but the Mets found a way to do it again.

Carolos Delagado had 2 home runs, including the 400th of his career - a grand slam.

Beltran wins it with a 2 run homer off Izzy in the 9th.

Magic Number - 25

Good news for Glavine - not surgery he should be back in a week.

Also, the Mets have appeared to have traded for Shawn Green. It's good to have a Jew on the Mets.

Hens win - still 2 games out.

Nice performance by the Cowboys last night in the preseason game. I'm really tired of this T.O. shit. The media is just itching for a story.

Oh What A Night!

Wonderful ceremony last night celebrating the 20th anniversary of the 86 Mets. Luckily, it was carried on MLB Extra Innings so I was able to see it.

Too bad some players couldn't make it. I wonder if Doc got to watch in jail? What a disappointment he has become.

As for the regular game - nice to see the throwbacks on - and an 86-like comeback in the late innings.

Magic Nubmer - 27

Now for the bad news - It looks like Glavine may have a clot or something in his arm. This could finish his season and maybe career. Not good for him and a tough loss for the team. I don't think the pitching can do it in the playoffs without him.

Tonight I'm going to my third Mud Hens game in 5 days. The first two were wins. I wish I had gone last night. Check out the scoreboad --

What's Going On?

Two straight blowout losses to the Phillies. Magic number stays at 32. Still a 13 game lead. Not panic time yet.

Jose hit 3 HRs tonight. The only bright spot.

I'm really not in the mood the discuss the past two games any more.

Hens win - now are 1.5 games out.

Cowboys injury problems continue at WR...stay tuned.

A Nice Weekend

I'm back after a few days vacation in Ludington, MI.

Spent a lot of time swimming in Lake Michigan and have a sunburn on my back to prove it.

Lots to catch up on:

Magic Number - 32

Piazza hit two home run last week against Pedro. That was cool - especially since the Mets won. It was nice to see him get the curtain call. I did feel a little bad for him when the Mets kept stealing bases - but you've gotta take advantage.

Following the sweep of the Padres. They took 2 of 3 three from the Nationals.

The Nats have taken a page from the Brewers with a character race. No sausages here - they have huge costumes of the 4 Presidents on Mount Rushmore.

Speaking of Presidents - stopped at the Gerald Ford Museum in Grand Rapids - very interesting. Shannon and Ellis did not enjoy it so much.

Mud Hens have lost four in a row - and I just sent in my playoff ticket request form.

Time to put some lotion on the sunburn.

Welcome Back!

What a great reception at Shea tonight for Piazza's return. I would have loved to have been there.

Well, Piazza got a million standing o's, had one hit and the Mets won.

Magic Number - 38

Mud Hens win also, now only a game out of first.

I'll be at the Hens games tomorrow - let's see how Maroth does in his rehab start.

Alexis on Fire!

Mets off tonight.

Mud Hens win 15-8. Alexis Gomez with 4 Home Runs! 2nd Mud Hen in history to do it - Bubba Trammel in 1997.

Ellis had a good t-ball game tonight. Hit a line drive up the middle and hit a kid in the chest. The kid stood there shocked for a minute, then ran off the field crying. 1st base is not a good position for Ellis, he's too social - to busy talking to the baserunner instead of watching the batter.

Grand Salami!

Magic Number - 40

Grand slam by Reyes, 3 hits for Duke, Valentin with another HR and how about John Maine? 23 straight scoreless innings.

Next up - the Padres and the return of Piazza.

Great moves by the Mets locking of Reyes and Wright for long term deals - maybe I can get that #5 jersey.

Mud Hens with the rare off day on Saturday. I'll be there on Wednesday - looks like Maroth will be pitching a rehab start.

I'm really hoping for a Mets-Tigers World Series - maybe I can get some tix to Comerica.

Not a great Brickyard 400 for Jeff Gordon - but he still sits in 8th place in the Chase.

Another weekend over - back to the salt mine.

Big Win!

Nice come from behind victory for the Mets. A big thank you to David Wright for some great defensive plays.

How about Endy Chavez - he has been really clutch this year. Many big hits. I would prefer that he come off the bench.

Magic Number is 42

Mud Hens commit 5 errors, blow a 6-0 lead and lose in the 14th. They're still 2 games out.

I got my birthday present early from my in-laws - Two tickets to a Buckeye game at the Horseshoe!

As far a Floyd Landis goes - what a shame. No other commentary needed.

Another Loss

Well, the lead's down to 11 games. Just couldn't get the big hits and the bullpen gives up two homers.

At least Utley's streak was stopped. They've got to win the next two. Can't let the lead get under 10.

In happy news, the Mud Hens win on Ludwick's 20th of the year in extras. They're only 2 games out of first now. This team has been so up and down this year, I don't know what they're gonna do.

I was kind of upset that USA Today picked the Buckeyes as their pre-season #1. That puts a big bullseye on their backs. Let's hope Troy and Teddy can light it up since the defense lost so many guys.

For all you Eastern Michigan football fans out there (all two of you) - the Eagles will playing Navy at Ford Field on Veterans Day, Nov. 11th. I hope to be there.

Due to Fox and MLB's wonderful agreement, I won't be able to watch the Mets tomorrow but I'm sure we'll get some wonderful insight from Jeannie Zelasko and Kevin Kennedy between innings.

Let's Begin

Not a good nite for the Mets. 3 double plays. Heilman blows it in the 8th. We're gonna miss Sanchez.

I can't stand listening to these out of town announcers. They are such homers. One thing the Mets have never had is a real "homer." Unlike those jokes from the Bronx - Scooter, Kay, Sterling, Waldman - they are brutal.

At least the Hens won - only 3 games back now. I don't think they'll make the playoffs - it's just not the same as last year.

Training camp is getting rolling. I'm already tired of the media attention being given to T.O. I'll admit I hated the guy, but now that's he wearing the Star, he's one of us. Bill will keep him in line.

One final note...If I ever see or hear about my sister and a Yankees cap again - there will be consequences!
