Clinch!

Back To Back Champs!

The Mud Hens did it. They were down 2 games to 1 and won two straight to win the Governor's Cup for the second straight year.

Unfortunately, I was in Chicago and could not be there in person to celebrate. But, I did have a good weekend - spent a nice Friday afternoon at Wrigley.

Buckeyes move to 3-0.

Mets almost clinching as I type.

Cowboys destroyed the Redskins last night.

One Down, Two To Go

The Mud Hens took Game One of the Governors' Cup Finals in rainy Rochester 6-3. Mike Hessman with 2 home runs and 4 RBIs. Two more wins for Back-to-Back Cups!

I've been to the stadium in Rochester, it's nice. I had something good to eat there but I don't remember what it was. Train tracks run behind the stadium and there was a good brew pub across the street. Rochester has a nice entertainment district along the river.

The Mets keep running in place against the Marlins. They lost last night and are losing in a rain delayed game now. It's only a matter a time before they clinch. This happened in 86. They need a win or two to clinch and waited a whole week to do it at home. I'd like them to get it over with now.

Magic Number - 4

I don't feel like talking about the Cowboys so let's move on.

The Islanders signed Rick DiPietro to a 15 year! contract today. It doesn't appear to be that bad financially, but that's a long contract. There better be multiple Cups during that 15 years.

I'll be going to Chicago this weekend - hope to go to my second game at Wrigley. The first wasn't too much fun. It was freezing and the Mets lost to the Cubs.

Best of luck to Drew Macintyre who was the heart and soul of the Toledo Storm last season. The Red Wings traded him to Vancouver today. We'll miss you Drew!

Big Night!

Not sure where to begin here. Let's go chronologically.

Mets win 3-2 over the Dodgers. Nice pitching by El Duque, Wright gets the game winning hit.

Magic Number - 5

The Mud Hens beat Charlotte 5-2 - thanks to a 3 run pinch hit HR by David Espinosa in the 10th inning. They new move on to the Governor's Cup Finals against Rochester. Three wins and it's Back to Back championships.

Finally - the Buckeyes go down to Texas and put a whooping on the Longhorns 24-7. Troy Smith was awesome and the defense did a great job.

Also, good job by Eastern to hang in there with Michigan State.

Congratulations to the Hempstead Yellow Hornets for winning the 2006 New York State Fire Department Drill Team Championship. If you want more info on Fire Department Racing - see the link to the right. Only in New York!

On To The Playoffs!

A very exciting night yesterday at Fifth Third Field. The Hens defeated the Indians 4-0 to move into the playoffs. I enjoyed the champagne covered high fives from the players as they did their victory lap.

Unfortunately it looks like the Hens had too much champagne last night as they lost Game One to Charlotte 5-0. Game 2 is tomorrow.

Tomahawk Chop This --- Mets sweep a double header from the Braves. Oliver Perez with the complete game shutout in the second game. Super Jew Shawn Green with 2 HRs.

O-H-I-O!

What an experience this past Saturday. Over 100,000 people clad in scarlet and gray. It was amazing.

We had great seats, on the 5 yard line - 11th row from the field. The team came in right in front of us and scored 3 first quarter touchdowns in our end zone.

The rain held off for the game and it was just a blast.

Mets are still rolling along.

Magic Number - 11

Mud Hens play tomorrow night in a one game playoff against Indianapolis for the West Division title. I'll be there.

Hello Again!

It's been a little hectic here recently.

A quick update:

Mets just took 2 of 3 in Colorado.

Magic Number - 15

They now have the best record in baseball.

Mud Hens are tied for first with 4 games left. I'll be there on Sunday.

Eastern Michigan lost its first game last night - no surprise.

I'll have a full report of my experience in Columbus after I come back on Saturday night.
